Fourier GR-1 humanoid Robot Exports to Southeast Asia Markets

Shanghai-based Fourier Intelligence has achieved a significant milestone in its international expansion strategy by shipping its GR-1 humanoid robots to multiple countries across Southeast Asia. The export marks the first major overseas deployment of a Chinese humanoid robot platform, covering research institutions and rehabilitation centers in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

The GR-1 is a full-size humanoid robot standing 1.65 meters tall and weighing 55 kilograms. It features 40 degrees of freedom and is powered by Fourier's proprietary self-developed actuators, which deliver high torque density while maintaining energy efficiency. The robot is designed for both research and practical applications, with a particular emphasis on healthcare and rehabilitation scenarios — a domain where Fourier has deep expertise from its medical exoskeleton business.

The Southeast Asian deployments will focus on two primary use cases. In research institutions, the GR-1 will serve as a development platform for humanoid robot locomotion, manipulation, and human-robot interaction research. In rehabilitation centers, the robot will assist with patient mobility training, therapeutic exercise guidance, and data collection for clinical studies.

Fourier Intelligence has also established a regional service and support hub in Singapore to provide technical training, maintenance, and software updates for its Southeast Asian customers. The company plans to hire local engineers and collaborate with universities in the region to develop region-specific applications and language capabilities.

This export success reflects the growing competitiveness of China's humanoid robotics industry on the global stage. With strong government backing and a rapidly maturing supply chain, Chinese humanoid robot makers are increasingly positioning themselves as viable alternatives to American and European competitors, particularly in price-sensitive emerging markets.
