Figure AI Closes $675 Million Series B Funding Round at $2.6B Valuation

Sunnyvale-based startup Figure AI has closed a landmark $675 million Series B funding round, catapulting the company's valuation to $2.6 billion and solidifying its position as one of the most well-funded humanoid robotics companies in the world. The round was led by Microsoft, OpenAI Startup Fund, and NVIDIA, with participation from Jeff Bezos' Bezos Expeditions, Intel Capital, and Parkway Venture Capital.

The staggering investment reflects growing confidence in the commercial viability of general-purpose humanoid robots. Figure AI is developing Figure 02, a bipedal humanoid robot designed to perform a wide range of physical tasks in manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, and retail environments. The robot features dexterous five-fingered hands, a human-like range of motion, and AI-powered perception and decision-making capabilities.

A key element of Figure AI's strategy is its deep collaboration with OpenAI. The two companies have been working together to develop next-generation AI models that enable humanoid robots to understand natural language commands, reason about complex tasks, and learn new skills through observation and demonstration. This partnership aims to create robots that can seamlessly integrate into human work environments without extensive pre-programming.

The fresh capital will be used to accelerate the manufacturing scale-up of Figure 02, expand the company's engineering team from 80 to over 300 employees, and fund the deployment of pilot fleets with commercial partners. Figure AI has already signed agreements with BMW for factory floor testing and is reportedly in advanced discussions with several major retailers.

This funding round makes Figure AI one of the few humanoid robotics companies to achieve unicorn status, alongside Agility Robotics and 1X Technologies. The investment underscores a broader trend of major tech companies betting heavily on the humanoid robotics market, which analysts project could reach $38 billion by 2035.

We are building the world's first commercially viable autonomous humanoid robot. This funding allows us to scale from prototype to production at an unprecedented pace.
