Agility Robotics Deploys 75 Digit Robots at Amazon, Announces $2.5B SPAC Merger

Agility Robotics, the Oregon-based maker of the bipedal Digit warehouse robot, announced on April 20, 2026 that its robot fleet at Amazon fulfillment centers has expanded to 75 units — making it the single largest commercial deployment of humanoid robots in the world. The robots work alongside human employees in Amazon's warehouses across Texas, California, and Washington, performing repetitive material handling tasks including tote moving, bin transferring, and conveyor sorting.

The announcement coincided with Agility's declaration of a SPAC (special purpose acquisition company) merger with Decapital Acquisition Corp., valuing the combined entity at approximately $2.5 billion. The merger is expected to close in Q3 2026 and will raise approximately $380 million in gross proceeds, which Agility plans to use to scale production at its Salem, Oregon manufacturing facility — dubbed 'RoboFAB' — to 10,000 Digit robots per year by 2028.

Amazon's expanded deployment follows a successful 18-month pilot that began in late 2024 with an initial 10 units. Internal Amazon data shared with investors showed that Digit-equipped workstations achieved a 32% throughput improvement over human-only stations for tote-moving tasks, with a 99.4% task-completion reliability rate. Amazon has indicated it may expand the fleet to 200 units by end of 2027 if performance metrics continue to improve.

In a parallel announcement, third-party logistics giant GXO Logistics signed a $300 million purchase agreement for the upcoming Digit v5 — Agility's next-generation robot featuring a redesigned upper body with dual 7-DOF arms, an upgraded payload capacity of 25 kilograms per arm, and a swappable battery system enabling 24/7 operation. The first Digit v5 units are scheduled for delivery to GXO in Q1 2027, with deployments planned across 15 distribution centers in North America and Europe.

The SPAC merger and large-scale deployment signal a maturing commercial trajectory for Agility, which has been criticized in the past for moving slowly compared to flashier competitors.
